Seattle Presentation to Detail New Economic Model Cutting Datacenter Costs
DENVER, Colo., Aug. 1 -- CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm, will join Niobrara Energy Park President, Craig Harrison, for an August 6 presentation of a new data center economic model with the potential to cut costs by close to half for data center developers. Niobrara has developed the first-of-its-kind Niobrara Data Center Energy Park in Weld County, Colorado (www.niobraraenergypark.com).
The presentation will be made during a data center event sponsored by InformationWeek and Siemens themed "Empowering the Data Center – Efficiency, Energy-Saving, and Green IT." The presentation is scheduled August 6 from 11:00-11:30am at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center in Seattle, Washington.
Niobrara's economic model predicts data center owners may operate more efficiently, economically and reliably than ever before. This includes capital expenditure savings of over 40% and operational expenditure savings nearing 50%. The park's exceptional energy reliability results from a "triple redundant" on-site natural gas power supply provided by three separate gas pipelines. Harrison is arranging access to this gas at long-term low rates that he describes as "the cheapest natural gas in America."
The August 6 presentation will detail the many other characteristics that make the Niobrara site so conducive to industry-leading breakthroughs in data center cost reductions. These include the site's climate, which allows "free cooling" eliminating the need for energy-consuming chillers for cooling, along with on-site renewable energy resources and a very favorable tax environment.
