RedPoint Data Management for Hadoop Announced

RedPoint Global Inc. today announced its membership in the Hortonworks Certified Technology Partner Program and the availability of its top-ranked Data Management application for Hortonworks' Data Platform 2.0, based on Apache Hadoop 2.0, and YARN-based architecture. Through this new technology partnership, RedPoint will deliver one of the first certified applications for processing Big Data natively within a Hortonworks Hadoop 2.0 cluster. With its easy-to-use, drag-and-drop interface, RedPoint enables traditional database analysts to manage Big Data without specialized programming skills.

While competing ETL and data quality solutions move data into and out of the Hadoop cluster, defeating the inherent value attributed to the scalability of Hadoop, the RedPoint solution performs its processing as a native Hadoop 2.0 YARN application. RedPoint Data Management for Hadoop uniquely runs as a set of high-performance native binary tasks, bypassing MapReduce altogether.

"RedPoint's turnkey offering to load and manipulate data in Hadoop, simplifies the integration of Hadoop into enterprise data architectures," said John Kreisa, vice president of strategic marketing, Hortonworks. "By leveraging a YARN-based architecture, RedPoint has simplified the deployment of ETL services on Hadoop and enabled the RedPoint solution to better co-exist with applications running in the Hadoop cluster."

RedPoint Data Management for Hadoop enables users to map unstructured data stored in Hadoop, such as web activity, social media and devices data, to existing traditional data, such as customer records, prospect lists, surveys, transactions and demographics. This enables companies to find answers to complex questions utilizing all data assets across the enterprise and develop more powerful analytic insights.

"Our partnership with Hortonworks will help companies that want to gain business value from Big Data, but don't know where to start," said George Corugedo, CTO and co-founder of RedPoint Global. "Our solution is the first of its kind to give drag-and-drop access to database marketers and other business analysts who want to enhance their traditional customer data repositories with Big Data. With RedPoint Data Management for Hadoop, companies will not have to hire specialized programmers to take advantage of Big Data -- like social graph scans, Twitter feeds and Facebook comments -- to enhance their interactions with customers, members, prospects or others."

The sophisticated data management features of the RedPoint offering include: identity resolution, master key management, data parsing, aggregations, and automations. While these capabilities are available in the traditional data world, they are largely missing from the world of Hadoop.

RedPoint Data Management for Hadoop installs easily on a Linux host with high-speed network connection to a Hadoop 2.0 cluster and a Windows PC/laptop (for client software). Upon set-up, the program code self-installs across the Hadoop cluster.
