SolidFire Deepens Block Storage Support

SolidFire today announced expanded integration leadership and deeper ecosystem support within OpenStack. With the latest Havana release, SolidFire continues to deliver the deepest and broadest support for the OpenStack Block Storage project. Delivering complete API support for all of the latest block storage functionality included in Havana, newly supported features in this release include volume extension capability, more flexible volume/tenant management features and a Cinder backup service option.

"Havana is an important release milestone for the OpenStack community and SolidFire," said John Griffith, Lead OpenStack Developer & Cinder PTL for SolidFire. "Continuing to improve the quality and stability of the platform while adding important features and cross-ecosystem integrations is exactly what is needed to deliver OpenStack to a broader set of customers."

In addition to the most comprehensive coverage of the block storage APIs, SolidFire is also delivering deeper integrations with leading OpenStack distributions including Mirantis, Nebula, Rackspace Private Cloud and Red Hat.

  • Mirantis Interoperability. SolidFire has validated interoperability between the Mirantis OpenStack platform and SolidFire's OpenStack Block Storage (Cinder) Driver. The two companies will build off this initial effort with enhanced integration in future Mirantis OpenStack releases.
  • Nebula Integration. Through deeper integration efforts customers can now seamlessly provision SolidFire's block storage directly within the Nebula One compute platform.
  • Rackspace Private Cloud Certification. Rackspace has tested and verified SolidFire driver functionality with a Rackspace Private Cloud. Streamlined configuration can be found here.
  • Red Hat Certification. The SolidFire driver implementing the Block Storage (Cinder) API has been certified for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 3. More information can be found here.
