SGI Launches New Enterprise Storage Systems
SGI today announced the introduction of SGI InfiniteStorage 5100, SGI InfiniteStorage 5600 FC16, SGI InfiniteStorage 5500-F, and SGI InfiniteStorage 5600-F, supported by the InfiniteStorage Storage Management (ISSM) 11.10. These enhancements to the SGI InfiniteStorage 5000 series will enable customers to tackle their Big Data challenges with enhanced computing, performance and scalability, accelerating the discovery of actionable insights and innovation. The following new SGI Storage solutions include:
SGI InfiniteStorage 5100
This Raid platform offers the best in scalability and performance per dollar. Available in three enclosures including 12 bay, 24 bay, and 60 bay. Each enclosure option has dual controllers, or can be configured as an expansion unit to mix and match 2.5" and 3.5" drives in a variety of performance and capacity choices for SSD, 15K SAS, 10K SAS and near-line SAS. IS5100 also provides the latest release of 12G SAS as the host interface.
SGI InfiniteStorage 5500-F and 5600-F Flash Array
Delivers high performance and enterprise reliability for latency-sensitive data, accelerating HPC applications. IS5500-F and IS5600-F demonstrate burst performance of 800,000 IOPS and 900,000 IOPS.
SGI InfiniteStorage 5600 FC16
Expands enterprise data protection with the NetApp SANtricity suite of data replication features and flexible interface offerings with 16G FC, in addition to SAS. The IS5600 scales to 1.5 PB per system for data intensive storage.
InfiniteStorage Storage Management (ISSM) 11.10
Provides power cycling/power off non-responsive drives to improve system availability and performance. In addition, ISSM 11.10 enables thin provisioning asynchronous mirroring, increases Disk Pools to 20, and adds SSD support for Disk Pools (support for 120 SSDs). ISSM 11.10 supports all IS5000 series.
These new products, as part of the SGI InfiniteStorage 5000 series, enable high performance computing (HPC) customers to execute metadata acceleration for CXFS (SGI's high performance clustered file system), while maintaining the sub-millisecond low latency consistency needed for enterprise grade response and reliability. In addition, customers will benefit from rapid flash acceleration, achieving the transactional performance of over 1,000 traditional 15K drives with a single 2U Flash Array. The InfiniteStorage 5000 series also comes equipped with a robust data management system targeting smaller cluster or right-sized HPC building blocks for performance computing. Compared to previous generations, the updated InfiniteStorage series offers enhanced intelligence through Dynamic Rebalancing -- enabling a cost efficient solution that maximizes storage drives and eliminates unneeded data.
