Cirrascale Introduces Next Generation of VB2400 Series Blade Servers

Cirrascale Corporation announced the next generation of its VB2400 Series blade servers and RM2400 Series rackmount servers capable of supporting the newly released Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v2 product family (formerly codenamed “Ivy Bridge”).

“Similar to last month’s announcement of our support for the Intel Xeon processor E7-4800 v2 product family, the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v2 product family adds exceptional reliability and scalability for customers looking at quad-socket solutions,” said David Driggers, CEO, Cirrascale Corporation. “The impressive 96 threads per VB2400 or RM2400 system allow Cirrascale to truly offer its customers more ‘bang for their buck’ when demanding the most from enterprise and mission critical applications, large scale virtualization, or large-node HPC installations.”

The Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v2 product family is a die-shrink of the Intel Sandy Bridge microarchitecture and is built on Intel’s advanced 22nm Tri-gate manufacturing process. The latest generation boasts double the amount of memory controllers dramatically improving memory performance. The Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v2 product family supports improved security features such as Intel Platform Protection Technology with OS Guard, Intel Data Protection Technology with Secure Key, and Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller Virtualization (APICv). Additionally when utilizing all four sockets, the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v2 product family boasts the handling of 160 PCIe Gen3 lanes making it ideal for multi-threaded applications and HPC workloads.
