Fujitsu Strengthens Server Customization Business

Fujitsu today announced that it is taking steps to strengthen its server customization business for VAR and OEM, two markets anticipated to see future growth. The company will begin offering a menu of 200 customization options for FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY x86 servers, and has prepared models based on individual patterns of customer needs.

This menu will make it simple for ICT vendors to pick the customization options that meet their needs, enabling them to quickly and inexpensively develop their business, rather than designing, developing, and manufacturing their own products.

Fujitsu has built a global VAR and OEM business with servers such as mainframes, as well as peripheral and communications equipment. Today, its products are used in equipment for facilities and testing in the manufacturing industry, distribution industry, and others. In May of 2011, to elevate its position in the VAR and OEM markets, Fujitsu established the Embedded System & OEM Business Division, offering customizable products that meet the needs of its customers in these markets. Since then, the company has established a solid track record of performance in this field. Fujitsu is now building on that success and the knowhow it has accumulated to date by organizing its customization options into a menu that enables easy decision making for customers.

Overview of Customizations for VAR and OEM Customers

1. Menu of 200 customization options to meet different needs

There are 200 options for customization available for PRIMERGY x86 servers, including logo changes on the server chassis, optional equipment, and bundled software, as well as varied configurations of bundled hardware. These can accommodate a wide range of needs, including for external appearance and operating environments, and for changes to the display of local certifications on products provided to overseas markets.

2. Selection of options for easy customization using models based on individual patterns

Fujitsu has created three customization patterns – rebranding, appliances, and kitting – which are among the most frequently requested sets of customization options from the menu of 200. This enables customers to select a set of customization options as a group, depending on the objective, and have them quickly reflected in the product.
