MongoDB Appoints Dev Ittycheria as President and CEO
MongoDB has announced the appointment of Dev Ittycheria as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 3, 2014. Max Schireson, the company’s current CEO, will become Vice Chairman and remain with the company full time after transitioning the CEO role.
Dev is an accomplished enterprise software leader. He was the co-founder and CEO of BladeLogic, one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies of the last decade. After co-founding the business in 2001, he went on to take the company public in 2007, and then sold it to BMC Software in 2008 for approximately $900 million. After the acquisition, Dev became President of the Enterprise Service Management business at BMC Software, a business with $1.4 billion in annual revenue and over 4,000 employees.
“We are delighted that Dev will be leading the next leg of our amazing growth,” said Dwight Merriman, Chairman and Co-Founder of MongoDB. “Max has built a world-class team that has shipped great software, raised a record amount of money from smart investors, attracted hundreds of great partners and generated millions in revenue from the world’s leading companies. Dev's skills are a fantastic addition as we continue to grow our leadership in the market.”
“I’m thrilled by the opportunity to help create the next great database company,” said Dev Ittycheria. “MongoDB helps companies create entirely new types of business applications, while dramatically accelerating time to market and lowering overall costs. I look forward to scaling what we can do.”
"The last three years of growth have been spectacular. With Dev joining the team, I am personally excited to be able to focus on customers, partnerships and product strategy," said Max Schireson. “Dev's experience and leadership will be a powerful addition to the company as we continue to grow.”
