Nvidia Shifts GTC 2020 to Online-Only Event

March 2, 2020 — Nvidia has announced that its GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2020, originally scheduled to be an in-person conference from March 22-26 in San Jose, will now be an online-only event. The decision comes as many other major tech conferences have similarly canceled or reevaluated their plans in efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

“This decision to move the event online instead of at the San Jose Convention Center reflects our top priority: the health and safety of our employees, our partners and our customers,” Nvidia wrote in a statement. “We’re grateful to the great many individuals and partners who have worked to support this event and thank them for their understanding during these unusual times.”

Nvidia’s CEO and Co-Founder Jensen Huang will still give the keynote presentation via live stream, showcasing the latest advancements in AI and deep learning. Nvidia also announced plans to work with conference speakers to publish their talks online over the coming weeks and to schedule availability with those in its developer program in order to offer technical expertise.

Nvidia promised in its statement that those who registered for a GTC pass will receive a full refund, with details to come.
