Call for Papers for the 2022 OCP Future Technologies Symposium
April 6, 2022 — The Call for Papers for the 2022 OCP Future Technologies Symposium is now open. The event will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2022 as a full-day track and in parallel with the 2022 OCP Global Summit that will take place in person from October 18-20 at the San Jose Convention Center. All attendees for the Global Summit will receive free access to the OCP Future Technologies Symposium. Both events will take place at the San Jose Convention Center. And finally, there will be a $10,000 award paid to the winning submission of the Symposium.
The mission of the OCP Future Technologies Symposium is to bring to the OCP Community a forward-looking funnel of technologies which focus on solving future problems facing the industry, and accelerate productization through partnerships and open source R&D. Also, it is a unique opportunity to expose a generation of up-and-coming, best-in-class students to the professional community for purposes of research, training and recruitment. The Global academic, startup and venture communities are invited to participate, as well as industrial organizations performing cutting-edge research related to data center technologies.
This year, the OCP Symposium announces Sustainability in Data Centers as a general topic of the event and invites authors to submit papers in one of the five technological tracks:
-
Network
-
Any topics relating to significantly improving the performance, sustainability, and/or efficiency of the transportation layer / means to move information between devices and locations, including network design and architecture, optical components, etc.
-
-
High Performance Computing (HPC)
-
Includes any topics aimed at improving the performance, sustainability, and/or efficiency of performing large-scale, specialized computing applications, typically AI/ML workloads
-
-
Data Center Efficiency
-
Includes any solutions aimed at improving the performance, sustainability, and/or efficiency in how we design and/or operate Data Centers to reduce overall consumption of resources (water, power, materials)
-
-
Systems (Server, Storage, Switches) and Power
-
Any topics addressing improving the performance, sustainability, and/or efficiency of Servers, Storage Media, and Switches. Also includes topics related to securely protecting data in the OCP ecosystem.
-
-
Other Data Center Sustainable Solutions
-
If you have a transformative idea for OCP and Data Center hardware and you can’t figure out how to fit into the above categories, please still submit!
-
Submission Requirements
All papers must be received before the deadline (July 1, 2022) via the online submission form in the FNSpeaker portal. Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted for review. All submissions must include:
- Two-page paper with the IEEE two-column conference proceeding format
- List of authors, including one member (at a minimum) available to travel to the event
- Clearly identify the methodology proposed to address the problem
- Provide a section on the results or findings
NOTE: If you have used the FNvirtual platform before, use your same FNid to submit your paper. Please do not submit an abstract unless you can meet the following deadlines:

The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) was initiated in 2011 with a mission to apply the benefits of open source and open collaboration to hardware and rapidly increase the pace of innovation in, near and around the data center’s networking equipment, general purpose and GPU servers, storage devices and appliances, and scalable rack designs. OCP’s collaboration model is being applied beyond the data center, helping to advance the telecom industry & EDGE infrastructure.
