Nyriad Appoints Storage Executive Margie Evashenk To Its Board of Directors

AUSTIN, Texas, May 6, 2022 – Nyriad, Inc. today announced the appointment of technology executive Margie Evashenk to the Nyriad Board of Directors as an independent director. Evashenk brings three decades of wide-ranging business, engineering, and Board-level experience with a focus on storage and artificial intelligence. The addition of Evashenk expands the number of directors on the Nyriad Board to five.

Margie Evashenk

The appointment of Evashenk comes at a time of rapid growth and expansion for Nyriad. In March 2022, the company launched its premier product, the UltraIO storage system. The system uses the processing power of GPUs and advanced algorithms to build a new foundation for storage that eliminates the most painful limitations of RAID—idle hot spares, urgent failed drive replacements, and long rebuild times—to deliver unprecedented performance, resiliency, and efficiency.

“Margie has deep storage industry and Board-level governance experience that will be invaluable to Nyriad as we advance our first product and expand our presence with customers and partners,” said Derek Dicker, CEO and a Director of Nyriad. “As a fellow Technical Advisory Board member of a start-up, I witnessed first-hand Margie’s ability to provide strategic business and technical input, deliver candid feedback to a leadership team when needed, and assist in defining systems and processes that enable young companies to scale quickly and easily. She’s a proven leader with a passion for growing new businesses— exactly what we were looking for in an independent director.”

“I am excited and privileged to be joining the Nyriad Board,” said Evashenk. “When I learned about UltraIO’s groundbreaking architecture, which gives customers both performance and resilience with remarkable value, I wanted to be a part of it.  I look forward to contributing to Nyriad’s growth and market leadership.”

“We look forward to the contribution Margie will make to our company,” said Herb Hunt, Executive Chairman of the Board of Nyriad. “Having her wise counsel, enthusiasm, and experience will be a tremendous benefit for the company.”

Evashenk has 30 years’ experience in high-tech, from co-founding storage semiconductor start-up Sierra Logic (sold to Emulex Corporation in 2006) to overseeing global engineering for Emulex as Senior Vice President and Chief Development Executive. She was CEO and a Director of Kazan Networks, an early-stage storage company, until its sale to Western Digital Corporation in 2019.

Currently, Evashenk serves on the Board of Lantronix, Inc., where she is the Compensation Committee Chair, and is President of Evashenk Technology Management Consulting. She also serves on the Advisory Boards of minds.ai, a Deep Learning software company, and Burlywood Technology, a flash storage software company. She previously served on the Board of Open Silicon, Inc. (sold to Si-Five in 2018) and held Entrepreneur in Residence positions at SKTA Innopartners and Vonzos Partners, where her focus was on artificial intelligence. She has a BSEE degree from the University of California at Davis.
