KIOXIA to Highlight Recent Additions to Its Data Center and Enterprise Portfolio at OCP Global Summit

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2022 -- KIOXIA is committed to delivering the cutting-edge flash solutions that will power the next wave of applications and services, and this dedication will be on full display at this week’s Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit. At OCP, KIOXIA will highlight recent additions to its extensive data center and enterprise portfolio, including E1.S drives, Software-Enabled Flash technology with sample hardware, and 2nd generation PCIe 5.0 SSDs.

“We are a proud member of the Open Compute Project community, and it’s been exciting to see the ranks of companies committed to collaboration grow over the years,” noted Alex Mei, vice president of corporate marketing for KIOXIA America, Inc. “It is our belief that the technology infrastructure challenges we can overcome by working together are limitless. The new products, form factors and standards introduced recently are all driving innovation in the open compute ecosystem and paving the way for the data centers of the future.”

KIOXIA offers a broad portfolio of products, including SSDs for client PCs, data center, hyperscale, high-end servers and storage systems. Demonstrations will be given in the KIOXIA booth #A22 on the show floor at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center from October 18 – 20 and include:

  • KIOXIA XD7P Series Enterprise and Data Center Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) E1.S SSDs Running an Apache Cassandra Database: KIOXIA’s newest E1.S drives in a MiTAC Aowanda Edge system will be shown running a Cassandra scale-out database workload to highlight high throughput and low latency.
  • KIOXIA CD8 Series Data Center NVMe SSDs Running a PostgreSQL Database: This demo features the 2.5” form factor CD8 Series data center class SSD in a Supermicro 2U AS-2114S-WN24RT server. Four of the CD8 SSDs will be shown running a PostgreSQL database with a HammerDB database as a load generator.
  • KIOXIA CM7 Series Enterprise NVMe EDSFF E3.S SSDs Running FIO Benchmark: The KIOXIA flagship CM7 Series SSD will be shown running at PCIe 5.0 performance on an Intel Alder Lake PCIe 5.0 CPU. FIO workloads demonstrate the high performance of this enterprise NVMe SSD in an E3.S form factor to handle the most demanding workloads.
  • Software-Enabled Flash: KIOXIA will be showcasing the first software-defined flash storage hardware device in an E1.L form factor supporting the Linux Foundation’s Software-Enabled Flash Community Project.

Additionally, Scott Stetzer, senior director, Memory and Storage Strategy Division (MSSD), for KIOXIA America, will be giving an executive address at the conference. Titled, “Software-Enabled Flash: Open Source Software-Defined Technology for Flash,” this presentation will explain how bringing the power of software-defined technology to flash empowers the next generation of cloud and data center storage-intensive applications. The KIOXIA executive address takes place on Tuesday, October 18 at 2:00 pm PT.

Also speaking at the OCP conference is Matt Rozek, principal engineer, Technical Product Management, Marketing, SSD BU, for KIOXIA America, Inc. Rozek will present an Expo Hall session titled, “OCP Latency Monitoring,” on Wednesday, October 19 at noon PT.
