SophI.A Summit 6th Edition Reveals Program and Speakers
SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France, Sept. 26, 2023 -- Organized by Université Côte d’Azur, Communauté d’Agglomération de Sophia Antipolis and the Sophia Club Entreprises, with the support of the Alpes Maritimes government region, SophI.A Summit has become a consequential global event for research into artificial intelligence.
This year, the Summit will take place November 22-24, 2023 in the tech city of Sophia Antipolis, France, bringing together experts from Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Online and in-person registration is now open.
Engagement with the International Scientific Community
The program of this 6th edition confirms the increasingly international scope of SophI.A Summit. Among the speakers and participants are researchers from France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, U.S.A., Vietnam and Japan, and includes delegations from India and Quebec. The program comprises 18 keynotes speakers and participants from 13 different countries.
Submissions have been received from around the world and are subject to selection by the SophI.A Summit Scientific Committee, with an acceptance rate of around 50%. In total, there will be 36 conferences, two roundtables, four presentations and approximately 20 posters. These will be communicated in English, the official language of the event, to delegates from academia and business.

Wednesday 22 November 2023
- Guillaume Avrin, national artificial intelligence coordinator for the General Directorate of Enterprises (DGE), a department of the French public administration, who will present the French strategy for AI.
- Claude Castellucia, member of the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL), will deliver a lecture on the positioning of the CNIL regarding artificial intelligence research.
AI & Health: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Medical Research
- Marco Lorenzi (Inria Université Côte d’Azur – France) and Olivier Humbert (Université Côte d’Azur –France) will introduce Tavpritesh Sethi (New Delhi University, India), Bjorn Menze (Zurich University, Switzerland) and David Gruson (Science Politiques Paris, France).
AI & Biology: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Biological Research
- Ellen Van Obberghen-Schilling (Université Côte d’Azur, France) will welcome Thomas Walter (Institut Curie – France), among others.
- Isabelle Galy, director of the Maison de l’Intelligence Artificielle, will announce the winner of the Azur Data Challenge which will win four months of support from 3IA Côte d'Azur, Le Village by CA, POLE SCS, ClusterIA, and la Maison de l'Intelligence Artificielle.

AI & Smart Territories: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Smart Territories
- Elena Di Bernardino (Université Côte d'Azur – France) will introduce several speakers, including Gabriel Vincent (NVIDIA – U.S.A.) and Raphaële Héno, lead on the Programme Innovation at France’s national institute for geographic information and forestry.
AI & Management: Artificial Intelligence Applied to Management and Marketing
- Ludovic Dibaggio (Skema Business School – France) will introduce Claire Lelarge (Université Paris Saclay – France). A roundtable on AI and the transformation of organizations will be hosted by Sharon Goldman (VentureBeat – U.S.A.) with Gianluigi Bagnoli (SAP – France) and Rémy Pottier (ARM Holdings – France), Nicolas Hauviller (Amadeus – France) and Florin Cremenescu (Accenture – France).
Sustainable AI : Responsible AI
- Olena Kushakovska (SAP – France), will welcome, among others, Battista Biggio (Cagliari University – Italy), Toshie Takahashi (Tokyo University - Japan) and Bettina Laugwitz (SAP Labs – Germany)

- Serena Villata (CNRS, Inria, Université Côte d’Azur – France), with Imke Mayer (Charity Hospital Berlin – Germany), Luciano Floridi (Oxford University - U.K.), Luc de Raedt (Université Catholique de Louvain – Belgium), Marco Gori (Pisa University – Italy) and Marine Le Morvan (Inria – France).
Closing Ceremony and Awards
SophI.A Summit will conclude with a closing ceremony led by Stéphane Descombes (Université Côte d’Azur) with Livio de Luca (CNRS – France) and Arnaud Droit (Université de Laval, Québec). Julien Holzer (Telecom Valley, France) will announce the Azur Tech Winner, and the award for the researcher whose works are voted the most promising.
Charles Bouveyron, director of 3IA Côte d’Azur, will close the ceremony.
