HPE Expands ProLiant Gen11 Portfolio with Enhanced Performance and Sustainability
Oct. 11, 2024 -- Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced that HPE ProLiant servers, featuring AMD EPYC CPUs, have achieved 48 world records to date with the recently expanded HPE ProLiant Gen11 server portfolio. The latest HPE ProLiant servers, using AMD EPYC 9005 Series Processors, deliver up to 35% higher performance and 25% better energy efficiency, compared to previous models, and achieved 30 world records, surpassing competitors in energy efficiency, and performance across enterprise workloads in data management, java, and virtualization.
In addition, the recently announced HPE ProLiant DL145 Gen11 server, purpose-built for edge environments, using AMD EPYC 8004 Processors, also achieved five new world records in performance and energy efficiency.

HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers deliver next-generation compute engineered for the hybrid world and offer an intuitive cloud operating experience, trusted security by design, and optimization for a range of workloads. Using AMD EPYC 9005 Series Processors, HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers achieved 30 world records, which include:
- Virtualization – Drive server consolidation and lower operational costs with 10.51% better performance on an AMD EPYC 9845-processor HPE ProLiant server
- Data management – Speed up database queries on decision support workloads
- 41.4% better performance and 28.6% better price/performance on a two-processor server on Microsoft SQL Server 2025 Enterprise Edition
- 16.2% better performance on a one-processor server on Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition
- Java – Optimize applications for emerging use cases across industries with a one-processor server in the following Java benchmarks:
- 29.4% better Linux performance on Multi-JVM Critical-jOPS
- 24.6% better Linux performance on MultiJVM max-jOPS
- 24.6% better Linux performance on Distributed max-jOPS
- 21.6% better Linux performance on Distributed critical-jOPS

Recently announced HPE ProLiant DL145 Gen11 server, purpose-built for diverse edge locations such as retail stores, health clinics, banks, and factory lines, also achieved 5 world records, using AMD EPYC 8004 Processors. World claims include:
- Overall compute performance - 8.2% higher performance than the current world record holder for optimal business value
- Energy efficiency – Better energy efficiency than the current Linux world record, resulting in reduced operating costs and support in helping customers achieve sustainability goals.

HPE Expands AI Training Solutions with New HPE ProLiant Compute XD685
HPE also announced today at the AMD “Advancing AI” event, an expansion to its AI training solutions with the new HPE ProLiant Compute XD685. The system is purpose-built to accelerate large-scale AI training, such as Large Language Models used to create Generative AI applications.
The new system supports eight AMD Instinct MI325X or AMD Instinct MI300X accelerators, two of the latest AMD EPYC 9005 Series processors, and options for direct liquid cooling.
HPE also offers customers its world-leading services that provide global 24/7 support, remote or onsite, for the product’s entire lifecycle, from designing and developing to testing and deploying.
HPE ProLiant Compute XD685 is orderable today and will ship in early 2025.
